Junior Varsity Track, Varsity Track · Boys 2nd and Girls 3rd at District Varsity Meet

The varsity squads continued to solid district showing at the SMSD Varsity District Meet on Thursday 4/14 at SM East’s track and field facility.  The varsity boys squad placed 2nd overall, just five points out of the top spot.  The girls team placed 3rd overall.  Five Raider results were Top 10 all-time SMS performances for the night.  The girls 4×100 relay team of Abrina Maere, Annie Donovan, Maude Kilmer, and Kirsten Womack won with a time of 50.10 breaking into the top 10. The boys 4×100 relay team of Alex Phan, Ky Edwards, Kieron Smith, and Eyan Appleman won with a time of 43.31, which established the #10 time in South history.

Kirsten Womack continued with her outstanding season.  Individually, Womack won three events and was a member of the winning 4×100 relay team.  Kirsten won the Discus with a toss of 133′ 2″ jumping to a tie for #2 in South history.  She also won the 100m in a time of 12.80 which propelled her onto the top 10 performance list.  She also won the shot put for the 4th consecutive meet this season.

The top point performer on the boys side was Max Close.  Max placed 1st in the Shot Put, 2nd in the Discus, and 4th in the Javelin.  Close established new personal bests in the Discus (149′ 4″) and Javelin (151′ 8″) events.  On the track, Kywan Edwards had a solid meet.  Individually Ky placed 2nd in the 100m and 200m sprints.  Miles Macklin was the High Jump champion posting a new personal best of 6′ 0″ and also placed 4th in the 200m.

Athletes placing 2nd in their events were the boys 4×400 relay of Eyan Appleman, Jordan Upton, JC Alveranga, and Ryan Owens; the boys 4×800 relay of Nick Petrella, Lloyd Dodson, Chase Horner, and Hank Salsbury; Annie Donovan in the 100m; Maude Kilmer in the 200m; Jordan Upton in the High Jump; and Kieron Smith in the 400m.

Bronze medalists were Annie Donovan in the 200m; Alex Phan in the 100m, Eyan Appleman in the 200m, Nick Petrella in the 3200; and the girls 4×800 relay of Hannah Gibson, Anna Kreamer, Haley Carter, and Lauren Swift.

Athletes that scored valuable team points were Jordan Upton in High Jump, Molly Wright in the 1600m, Olivia Ponnuru in the 1600m, Chloe Wannamaker in the 3200m, Courtney Setty in the Shot Put & Discus, Reagan Siebert in the Discus, Maude Kilmer in the 100m Hurdles, Abrina Maere in the 300m Hurdles, Eyan Appleman in the 100m, Finn Wilson in the 800m, Hank Salsbury in the 800m, Harley Witbrod in the Shot Put & Discus, and Cole Rues in the Discus.

The Raiders will be in action next on Wednesday 4/21 at BV Southwest JV Meet and Friday 4/23 at the Mid-Season Classic hosted by BV Northwest.
